'Friend' Community Mental Health Resources Centre

'Friend' is the voluntary sector Community Mental Health Resource Centre serving Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset. We work with adults of working age who feel they need support with mental health issues, including those who may feel anxious, depressed, socially isolated, be experiencing distress or who may have had a breakdown and feel unable to cope with the pressures of life. We also offer services to those who have been in a psychiatric hospital and would like support in the community. We operate from our own building in the centre of Weston-super-Mare, and have a project base in the north of the area in Clevedon.

The Management Group of 'Friend'is responsible for ensuring we meet our obligations as required by the Charity Comissioners, and must ensure all funding received is used solely for the purposes intended. An independent Auditor prepares accounts and audits 'Friend' annually.

The Management Group is also responsible for the development of 'Friend' policy, including the setting of priorities, and ensuring that the overall ethos and theoretical frameworks underpinning the Charity are maintained. The team meet approximately once a month, usually during morning working hours, to discuss and make decisions on issues requiring attention. Day-today administration of the project is delegated to the Senior Development Worker/Company Secretary.

'Friend' services are funded by North Somerset Primary Care Trust, North Somerset Council and Comic Relief, and we also raise money from grant-giving bodies and trusts. We are proud to be a Recognised Organisation operating Best Practice as set down by the South West Regional Health Authority
